LINE UP MILKSHAKE FESTIVAL

Already a well-known and hysterical phenomenon: Milkshake. For their fifth anniversary an entire weekend on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st of July. The Westerpark is once again spectacularly transformed with no more than 18 stages where everyone can enjoy themselves without labels. Milkshake presents the line-up with performances by Peaches, New York Divas Amanda Lepore and Lady Bunny, Mykki Blanco, Le1f, Tiga, Phalerieau, Nickie Nicole, Willie Wartaal and Egbert-Jan Weeber. Topped with an extensive fringe programming, it promises to be a magical weekend!

“This year we tried to include something for everyone in the line-up,” says organizer Marieke Samallo. “We’ve never focused on big names in previous editions but this year there are a number of artists present that we’re very proud of. Among others the Canadian electro goddess Peaches is really an asset.”

TRANSFORMER

Tiga will turntable his skills during a new concept on Milkshake: Transformer. According to hosts Joost Van Bellen and Zu Browka International, Transformer is a futuristic party where everything is different and nothing is what it seems. They wage war against morality and transform reality into a dream world where everyone can be who they wants to be, if only for a few hours. A motley collection of national and international top stars will give an acte de présence like Amanda Lepore and Lady Bunny.

ROLLERDISCO
On the Westerpark during Milkshake there will be a nearly 2,000-square-meter roller disco, which makes the overall festival experience cozier and more intimate. Visitors can bring their own skates, but also rent them. “The space we set aside for the roller disco ensures that there are less day tickets available. That fulfills a question we received in past years that we shouldn’t become too big. With the roller disco we kill two birds with one stone. We present a beautiful new element and as requested bring back the intimacy of the first edition. “- Initiator Marieke Samallo

What happens when the unique Free Love and Tolerance Policy of two of the biggest clubs in Amsterdam is thrown in a blender together with a dose of liberalism, art, culture, entertainment and creativity?
Milkshake festival shows that entertainment, taste in music, choice of clothing and status has nothing to do with sexuality. Life is just a party thanks to the great diversity of skin colors, religions, sexual preferences and male and female forms. Milkshake wants to celebrate the city’s initiatives and is an impetus to bring courtesy and friendly manners back into society. Thick, thin, small, large, gay, straight, trans, black or white: people are the salt of the earth and this is what we celebrate!
