Casio’s Artist Program Spotlights Earth, Wind & Fire’s Larry Dunn

Casio America Inc LogoDOVER, N.J., Aug. 19, 2016 Casio America, Inc. is excited to shine the spotlight on Larry Dunn and his Larry Dunn Orchestra as part of its ever-expanding Artist Program, for the month of August. Casio’s artists, like Dunn, are as distinctive as the instruments Casio produces, and in its continued dedication, Casio’s Artist Program provides musicians with multiple levels of support. Dunn, a long-time Casio ambassador, along with his Anthology of Earth, Wind & Fire’s orchestra, will be performing this week at “Concert for a Cause.” In support of this event and benefit concert, Casio will be making a special donation of its Privia PX-160 and WK-240 keyboards.

“Concert for a Cause” takes place on Saturday, August 20th at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek, California. The event will benefit the Child Abuse Prevention Council which aims to raise funds for the prevention of child abuse within the Contra Costa community in California.

“We are thrilled to have Larry as a long-term member of Casio’s Artist Program, and his passion for the music industry and quality keyboards encompass Casio’s values and mission,” said Stephen Schmidt, Vice President of Casio’s Electronic Musical Instruments Division. “Larry is extremely talented, and not only are we proud to have him within the Casio family, we are even more proud to be able to support him and the Larry Dunn Orchestra at this event by providing ‘Concert for a Cause’ with a donation of Casio keyboards to help raise awareness for this worthy mission.”

With his funky keyboard playing, Dunn helped transform Earth, Wind & Fire into one of the all-time most successful R&B bands in the world, and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2000, and the Songwriters Hall Of Fame in 2010. Additionally, Dunn is a six-time GRAMMY® Award Winning musician and received the Lifetime Achievement Award in April 2016. His creative influence helped contribute to such Earth, Wind & Fire classics as “Shining Star,” “Spirit,” and “Be Ever Wonderful.” Dunn also held the position and handled the responsibilities of Earth, Wind & Fire’s musical director. With much of the group’s musical success on his resume, Dunn also rehearsed the band for live stage performances and wrote many of the musical segues and medleys. Aside from the keyboard, the widely talented Dunn plays a multitude of instruments including organ, synthesizer, piano, and clavinet. Along with playing, Dunn has also been involved with production projects, writing music for Japanese television commercials, film, and studio work.

Over the years, Casio has been committed to providing generations of aspiring musicians with quality electronic musical instruments. Dunn, a veteran of Casio’s Artist Program, is part of a multitude of artists on the current roster including Roshon, Jonatha Brooke, Anthony Viscounte, Victoria Hermann, among others.
