With the opening of the walking route Illuminade, the Amsterdam Light Festival is complete. During the festive opening, the light artwork Flawless by Gonzalo Bascuñan and Perrine Vichet was revealed at the Artisplein. Flawless is a large installation of illuminated leaves that floats above the flamingo pond. The walking route includes 21 pieces of art, each with its own story. The light artworks of the Illuminade are more experimental compared to the artworks of Water Colors, and most of them have been created by young international artists, such as Julian van Bruul and Vincent Vriens (Beeldjutters), Serge Schoemaker & DigiLuce and Hagar Elazari. Especially for the Illuminade the Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam is opened to the festival audience. Walking the Illuminade takes one and a half hours and is free of costs.
